The Art Minute with Nicolas Chardon
Having looked through the work of artist Pascal Pinaud, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche takes you in this second episode dedicated to its collection of Contemporary Art to the discovery of Nicolas Chardon, visual artist whose work will be found in the basement of our store as soon as it reopens.
Born in 1974 in Clamart, Nicolas Chardon quickly became part of the contemporary art movement. His minimalist works, imbued with linear graphics, highlight the trajectory of a movement that is defined throughout a repeated process. This is the case with his work "Grille Blanche", produced in 2011 and made from a fabric that he painted and whose lines are offset and twisted according to the tension of the canvas on a wooden frame. Nicolas Chardon imbues his painting with this distortion, creating a new geometry with wavering lines. His work is particularly influenced by the costumes of the designer Rei Kawakubo made for the ballet "Scenario" by Merce Cunningham in 1997.
