The Design Minute with Marc Held
This week, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche takes you, in this second Minute OFF devoted to Design, to the discovery of Marc Held, the French designer behind the "Culbuto", a playful and organic armchair whose shape recalls that of objects sent into space in the 1960s such as the Sputnik satellites.
The only Frenchman to have been edited by Knoll International, the famous furniture manufacturer, Marc Held has become a symbol of pop culture and its unparalleled creativity. Adapting to the increasingly sedentary lifestyles of men, Held designed in 1967 a fiberglass armchair that combines comfort and aesthetics: the "Culbuto". Although produced in very few copies due to its manufacturing complexity, its success is such that it has today become a true icon of sixties furniture.
