So Punk Rive Gauche !
AN EVENT TO ROCK THE RIVE GAUCHE
From 30 August to 20 October, Le Bon Marché is embracing all things punk rock, as part of its new season "So Punk Rive Gauche" event. Exclusive collaborations, wacky installations, do it yourself and offbeat entertainment characterise punk rock, Rive Gauche style; stylish and modern, with a sophisticated Parisian twist. Without losing anything of its subversive quality, of course.
From fashion and beauty to design and food, the impertinent mood of this legendary movement is set to take over Le Bon Marché with two main themes:So Punk Musicand So Punk Fashion. The event invites shoppers to embrace their individuality, assert their predilections, break free from convention and take risks (within reason)!
It’s safe to say that this season, punk is not dead!

So Punk Music
Punk found its privileged space for expression on the stage and designated rock stars as symbolicfigures of the movement. From the Sex Pistols to Iggy Pop, via David Bowie and The Ramones, punk artists were the pioneers of a new approach to everything.
In the So Punk Music area, the spirit of punk rock encourages shoppers to get creative and awaken their inner rocker. In the new era, "No Future" has become "Yes Future"*, where anything goes.
You can make and record your own music with lifestyle brand Lola James Harper, listen to vinyls with Big Smile Bazaar, get involved in a T-shirt customisation workshop with Notify, cover your leather jacket with Godert Me badges, or makeover a Deus Ex Machina motorbike – express your punk side as you see fit.
So Punk Fashion
Not confined to the music scene, punk filtered through into fashion and beauty as well, until it became an attitude.
The So Punk Fashion section is devoted to this particular style in all its inventive glory. The only thing that matters is the freedom to express yourself.
Anything goes...__ the more eccentric the better: animal prints from Andamane, pieces emblazoned with activist messaging by From Future, Tod’s studded loafers, ripped jeans by ELV denim and piles of jewellery from labels like Girls Crew,Maria Black, Lisa C and Atelier Paulin, teamed with bright Uoma make-up, or perhaps an original Kure Bazaar__ manicure – punk style can be achieved with small touches, or embraced from head to toe and adapted to suit the individual.
Don't miss the pop-ups and other events featuring special guests: Lola James Harper and its pop-up music school, Maria Tash with custom piercings, and Michelin-starred chef Guillaume Sanchez with his punk themed menu, available for a limited time only at the La Table restaurant at Le Bon Marché.
Come and meet Maria Tash on 4 September, who’ll be in store between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to present her "So Punk" collection of body jewellery.
Le Bon Marché will also be hosting an innovative cookery show** with Guillaume Sanchez on 7 September, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Join him at La Cornue*** on the 1st floor of La Grande Épicerie to discover the secrets behind 2 of his renowned dishes: Rock the Saint-Pierre and Wild Yogurt, which are also on the menu at La Table until 20 October.
"The punk influence on music, cinema, art, design and fashion is so well-known, it’s now the measure of cool. Malcolm McLaren
SO PUNK ART
