Founded in Turin by Giuseppe Ratti, Persol originally specialized in the production of technical eyewear designed for pilots and motorsport drivers. The brand then opened its doors to sunglasses for the general public. Proud of its sporting tradition, it invented technical pieces with stylish lines. Seduced by their comfort and rebellious look, Steve McQueen would never take off the 714s he wore in 'Bullitt'. Before him, Marcello Mastroianni wore the 649s in 'Divorce Italian Style'. While Persol has since been bought by Luxottica, it retains the emblematic design that mimics a keyhole between the lenses, as well as the arrow-shaped metal hinges, a true signature of the Italian fashion house.
