RAY-BAN Men

Thanks to its cult designs and international reputation, Ray-Ban is today one of the biggest names in sunglasses. Avant-garde pieces with emblematic designs have defined the brand's history. These fashion accessories enable you to display your personal style while protecting yourself effectively from the sun's rays thanks to the company's technical expertise. The origins of Ray-Ban It all began with the partnership between two optical enthusiasts. German John Jacob Bausch arrived in the United States with training acquired from his brother. He met Henry Lomb, with whom he opened a daguerreotype store. In 1853, the two opticians created their ophthalmology research company. They developed binoculars and telescopes. The Bausch & Lomb company presented its first aviator sunglasses to respond to the needs of the American air force. In fact, after crossing the Atlantic in an aerostat in 1927, lieutenant John Arthur Macready ordered protective wraparound glasses from the two opticians. Their invention was effective, but didn't solve the problem of headaches caused by the high luminosity present at altitude. The RB3 lens, with a green tint, was born a few years later. Filtering ultraviolet and infrared rays, it facilitated the maneuvers of US Air Force pilots. This creation marked the debut of sunglasses. The Ray-Ban company was inaugurated in 1937, adopting the name of its patented product, which in turn took its name from the contraction of the words "banish rays". It worked mainly for the American army, creating the Aviator glasses and improving them during the Second World War. The glasses were then covered with a graduated tint. The upper band, which was much darker, protected pilots from the sun's rays, while the lower, lighter band enabled them to keep an eye on the instrument panel. Following the Normandy landings, GIs exported parts of American culture to Europe including jeans, chewing gum, and Ray-Bans! Legendary designs After the famous "Aviator", the company launched the "Wayfarer" in 1952, popularized by Hollywood stars and the biggest celebrities in rock 'n' roll. The Blues Brothers, Bob Dylan, Jack Nicholson, and Don Johnson all wore this iconic design, which revolutionized the concept of glasses with the introduction of plastic temples. In a sector dominated by metal frames, this innovation came to symbolize freedom and modernity for a youth thirsty for emancipation. The Ray-Ban brand experienced a spectacular boom in the 1980s, thanks in particular to Michael Jackson, but also Ray Charles and Malcolm X, who inspired the "Ray-Ban Clubmaster", released in 1986. The latter featured rounded, half-rimmed lenses that were a huge hit with celebrities and the general public alike. Bought by Italian group Luxottica in 1999, the brand came back with a bang after a period of decline during the 1990s. Worldwide success By opening up to eyewear, and thanks to its muses and ingenious collaborations, Ray-Ban remains a cult brand almost a century after its creation. With Scuderia Ferrari, the company has designed bold pieces with colorful lenses held in place by slender, sturdy temples. A collaboration with pop rocker Yungblud produced energetic, stylish pieces that appealed to a very modern audience. In 2008, to celebrate the return of the Clubmaster, the Bowery Ballroom in New York hosted the Ray-Ban Remasters concert. The sunglasses inspired by the iconic designs developed in the 1950s were present. The event brough together many celebrities: rock bands, actors from the TV series 'Gossip Girl', Diane Kruger, and Joshua Jackson. Politicans have also, in their own way, played their part in the expansion of the American brand. The Kennedys, Churchill, Eisenhower, and François Mitterrand have succumbed to these sunglasses' charms. The introduction of the famous sunglasses to the Hollywood blockbuster has also boosted their sales. In 1986, actor Tom Cruise wore oversized Aviators in the movie 'Top Gun'. In 1997, the movie 'Men in Black' gave the glasses a prominent role as the protagonists' main accessory. They also appear in the films 'Batman', 'JFK', and 'The Aviator'. This ingenious PR and the company's signature pieces make Ray-Ban a global benchmark for sunglasses. The Ray-Ban design When we think of the American brand, we immediately think of the Aviator glasses and their characteristic lens shape. They are held by a slender metal frame. But the brand has also developed a variety of designs (square, rectangular, oval, cat-eye...). Classic men will find traditional pieces that reflect the brand's quality standards. Those who prefer a stylish, modern look can turn to colorful pieces with refined lines and large lenses. The designs are known for their technical excellence, which combines solid frames with tough lenses. They offer great resistance to shocks and scratches, with maximum visual comfort. The label's graphic signature is engraved on the upper corner of the right lens. The frame is lightweight and designed to avoid any discomfort around the bridge of the nose. A guarantee of quality, the label offers products perfectly adapted to everyday life, for work or sports activities, without detracting from their esthetic dimension. Their sun protection is highly effective, preventing glare without obstructing vision. These sunglasses combine creative design with generations of expertise. These practical, contemporary accessories enable you to display your personality with a multitude of designs adapted to every man.
