From Grasse to Paris, via New York and Geneva, he attended the most prestigious laboratories where he saw himself as self-taught. Very much influenced by Edmond Roudnitska, he writes short and not very concentrated formulas to reinforce the subtlety and expressivity of his compositions. Inspired by everyday life, Jean-Claude Ellena likes saying that “perfume, a matter of smells, is a poetry of memory, and foremost a creation of the mind.”
