The Design Minute with Claudio Salocchi
This week, the Bon Marché Rive Gauche's Design Minute invites you to discover Claudio Salocchi, Italian designer and industrial architect, as well as the history of his "Tulpa" lamps, soon to be found in the Leather Goods and Lingerie areas of our store.
Born in 1934 in Milan, Claudio Salocchi was trained at the Polytechnic of Milan where he quickly devoted himself to furniture design and conceived innovative lighting systems.
At the same time, he taught at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", at the State Professional Institute for Furniture and Furnishings of Lissone and at the School of Architecture of Milan, while devoting much time and effort to research in the application of aluminum and metal to optimize his furniture.
This is how the Tulpa table lamp was born, characterised by a great aesthetic modernity. Created in 1971, its square marble base contrasts with the lightness of its geometric structure, which is composed of thin square steel rods.
The light vibrates and shines on the acrylic surface of the Plexiglas. Geometric, this lamp presents a perfect balance between different materials. What could be better than a concentrate of all the Italian know-how!
