The contemporary art tour

The contemporary Art Collection, which was started in 1989, comprises over 60 pieces of art, which date from 1949 to 2015. Everything from painting to photography, drawing and sculpture is on show throughout the store.

For a few years, Le Bon Marché has focused on acquiring French art pieces; the “L’Entrée sur l’Art Contemporain” area, which was opened in 1999, is dedicated to young international artists, and can be found at the entrance on the corner of rue du Bac and rue de Babylone.

The designer furniture tour

Since 2011, Le Bon Marché has been building a collection of designer furniture, designed to continue the store’s historical commitment to supporting and promoting the decorative arts.
This process started in 1923 with the Pomone design workshops, which were responsible for creating interior furniture for the customers of that era. The Collection now comprises almost eighty pieces of furniture dating from 1930 to 2017.

Le Bon Marché invites you to discover the designer tour, which focuses on around twenty pieces produced between the 1950s and 1970s by leading designers, such as Georges Nelson, Charles and Ray Eames, Verner Panton, Pierre Paulin, and Angelo Mangiarotti.

While exploring the stylistic trends of this period the guided tour will review the origins of design and its evolution from the foundational movements of the early 20th Century.
