Le Monde Beryl is a story of friendship. In 2016, Lily Atherton Hanbury and Katya Shyfrin got together for a special project, to create a brand of shoes and accessories taking inspiration from those once worn by Venetian gondoliers. Le Monde Beryl was born. Its name is a reference to a family of precious stones considered to be a talisman by explorers and artists. The two friends reimagine traditional shoes with a contemporary sensibility. Each piece is hand made in Italy using age-old techniques. The master craftsmen use luxurious leathers in finishes that are smooth, velours, satin or metallized. Le Monde Beryl shoes fuse sleek design with elegance and femininity. Pumps, mules and sandals all have discreetly detailed finishes such as contrasting toe caps, narrow buckled straps, exquisite knots or delicate twists. Clearly Venetian slippers are one of the brand's flagship creations, but their Mary Janes with all the style of a ballet flat are iconic.
